“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you’ll go.”— Dr. Seuss
Reading and story time is invaluable for child development. It can enhance imagination, creativity, improves concentration, develops vocabulary, works on socio-emotional skills, fosters family bonds, and can increase cultural awareness. Through storytelling, we can take our children throughout the world, where they can learn about different animals, cultures, people, feelings, emotions, concepts and experiences. We can also spark their imagination through introduction to fantastical lands and creatures, both driving creative play which fosters problem-solving skills and innovating thinking. Social concepts, which may be hard to understand for our little ones, can be introduced through social stories which makes learning concepts such as sharing and respecting personal space, fun and relatable for children. At Little Superstars Daycare, we believe that fostering a love for reading at an early age, sets a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
